About the Doctors





Douglas K. Gauvreau, O.D.

Dr. Gauvreau is a Maine native. A third generation doctor, his father and grandfather were both surgeons, he received his BA degree from the University of Vermont in 1969 and both his BS and OD degrees from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, graduating in 1973.  He completed the Refractive Surgery course at Tufts University School of Medicine in 1996.  After serving in the U.S. Army as an optometry officer, he returned to Maine in 1975 and established the Eye Care & Eye Wear Center of Maine.  Dr Gauvreau is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association and he currently serves on the board of the Maine Optometric Association.  He is licensed by the Maine Board of Optometry for the treatment of eye disease and glaucoma.
